These job sectors posted biggest gains, losses in metro Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte metro area’s October unemployment rate of 3.2% tied with three other N.C. locales for third-lowest in the state, according to the most recent figures released by the North Carolina Department of Commerce.

This region led the state’s 15 metro areas in largest net employment increase year over year, with its workforce posting a net gain of 27,900 and bringing its total nonfarm employment base to 1.25 million. On a percentage basis, the Charlotte metro’s 2.3% increase was fifth-highest in the state.
