CHARLOTTE — UPDATE: Power was restored in south Charlotte just before 2 p.m. after an outage that affected thousands of people Saturday, Duke Energy reported.

More than 3,000 people in south Charlotte were left without power Saturday afternoon due to an outage, according to Duke Energy.
Duke Energy’s outage map shows the affected area is west of Providence Road near Interstate 485.
According to Duke, the outage affected more than 3,200 customers.
Channel 9 reached out to Duke to get more information about what caused the outage. A representative said it wasn’t caused by a crash or downed power line, but crews were working on determining the exact cause.
Duke Energy says power is estimated to be restored by 3:15 p.m.
If you get to an intersection with non-functioning traffic lights, you should treat the intersection as a four-way stop.
