STATESVILLE, N.C. — The name of a Mooresville fallen officer will live on in the form of a new tiger cub at a Statesville zoo.
Channel 9's partners at the Record and Landmark report the new cub is coming to Zootastic and will be named Officer Sheldon, in memory of Jordan Sheldon, the Mooresville police officer killed in the line of duty last month.

Workers at Zootastic also plan on reaching out to Sheldon's fiance to make a donation.
Sheldon was shot and killed during a traffic stop on May 4.
Michael Aldana shot him, then drove to his apartment where he died by suicide.
It is still not clear why he shot Sheldon.
