HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. — A serious crash involving a tractor-trailer had a portion of Interstate 77 in Huntersville shut down in both directions for hours Tuesday evening.
The accident happened just after 4 p.m. between Gilead and Mount Holly Huntersville roads in Huntersville.

Channel 9 crews were at the scene and could see the big rig stuck on top of a median as miles of backups began to form.
Troopers have not said how the crash happened but nobody was hurt.
The interstate reopened a few hours later.
