Travelers forced to pack patience at Charlotte airport

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — People traveling this holiday season should pack some patience.

Travelers have said that it has taken nearly an hour to get to their terminal on Wednesday at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, and it’s not going to get much shorter over the next few days.

Travelers told Channel 9 that it is worth the wait to spend quality Thanksgiving time with friends and family.

However, if you are going to the airport, prepare for a traffic backup well before you reach the terminal.

"Pulling into the airport, it was bumper-to-bumper and many impatient people,” said traveler Angela Dixon. "Leave in plenty of time, for sure."

Outside of the airport, a crowd of travelers waited to be picked up.

"I'm still waiting for the Uber. It seems like he's stuck somewhere,” traveler Ellen Burleigh said.

"Ugh, I've had a long day,” traveler Trevor Horvath said.

At the end of the day, some travelers said holiday reunions are worth the trouble.

Luke St. Angelo returned home from Russia.

“It's great to be able to come home for the holidays,” St. Angelo said. “I mean, especially when you live in a really cold place like Moscow, it's awesome to come back to Charlotte, North Carolina where you can wear shorts."

Patience at the airport has given some travelers the true essence of Thanksgiving.

“It's been a long day, but it was worth it,” traveler Hope Dailey said.

"Find your patience. It’s a holiday,” Dixon said.
