Trial for suspect in Phylicia Barnes' death scheduled for next year

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The trial for the man accused of killing Monroe teenager Phylicia Barnes has been moved to January of next year.

Barnes’ sister's ex-boyfriend, Michael Johnson, is charged with killing her while she was visiting family in Baltimore in 2010.

Her body was found in a river months later.

Johnson was arrested this past April.

Prosecutors said Barnes died from asphyxiation, but haven't given any more details.
