Trio of entrepreneurs launch outdoor skating rink, lounge

Sh'Niqua Ussery, Brandi Fox and Kendria Holmes have teamed up to launch Rollin' CLT. That outdoor skating rink and lounge debuts next weekend.

CHARLOTTE — A trio of Black women entrepreneurs is looking to bring roller skating back to Charlotte.

Kendria Holmes, Brandi Fox and Sh’Niqua Ussery launched Rollin’ CLT on Labor Day weekend.

Expect a 2,400-square-foot outdoor skating rink and sports bar and lounge. There will be a live DJ, food trucks, a hookah bar and games -- from jumbo Uno and Connect Four to tables for playing Spades.

“It’s nostalgia mixed with a little modern day. It’s definitely going to have that feel that ‘I’m in a skating rink,’” Holmes says.

The rink will be at The Elite Athlete Training Academy lot at 500 W. 32nd St. It will operate at that location every other weekend through the end of the year, with the option for pop-up events in other parts of the Queen City.
