• Troopers: Ice may be to blame after truck flips on I-485

    Updated:

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Troopers were investigating an accident on Interstate 485 early Monday morning and icy conditions may be to blame.

A Chevy pick-up truck overturned and crashed just before 6 a.m. on the inner loop of I-485 near Beatties Ford Road.

Paramedics said one person was taken to Carolinas Medical Center with potentially life-threatening injuries.

Crews on scene were reporting ice on the bridge over Long Creek -- just east of where Beatties Ford Road crosses I-485.

Traffic was backed up after police had to close all but one lane on the inner loop for nearly two hours.
