Troopers investigating deadly head-on collision in York County

YORK COUNTY, S.C. — Troopers are investigating a deadly head-on collision Saturday afternoon in York County.

South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to the crash at around 4:30 p.m. on Highway 557 near Parham Road.

According to troopers, an SUV was traveling west on the road, crossed the center line and struck a pickup truck that was traveling east.

The driver of the SUV was confirmed dead at the scene, and their identity has not been released. Officials said the driver of the truck was hurt, but have not given details on injuries.

There were no other passengers involved in the crash, and both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
