British Virgin Islands - Tropical Storm Jerry will continue on a northwesterly path before gradually turning north, then northeasterly this week.
That path would take the storm very close to Bermuda later Tuesday into Tuesday night. Jerry will threaten Bermuda with heavy rain, strong winds, flooding and wind damage during this time.
Jerry will then quickly accelerate away from Bermuda on Wednesday and Thursday as it transitions into a non-tropical cyclone as it becomes absorbed in the westerlies.
A tropical storm watch has been issued for Puerto Rico and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands for Tropical Storm Karen, according to the National Hurricane Center.
By the end of the week, Karen will stall out east of the Bahamas as high pressure builds across the Atlantic. Beyond that, some models do moves Karen farther west so we'll have to keep a close eye on it.
With moderate wind shear over the storm, Karen should remain a tropical storm as it passes across the Caribbean this week. Gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall are expected across parts of the eastern Caribbean along its path.
The tropics are active this morning with the newest feature tropical depression #13 off the coast of Africa. That system should become Lorenzo later today. Right now, none of these appear to impact the US, but we'll monitor. pic.twitter.com/SblrB85Uhf— Keith Monday (@kmondayWSOC9) September 23, 2019
Farther out in the Atlantic just off the coast of Africa a tropical wave has a 90% chance of becoming a tropical depression or storm soon. If it becomes a tropical storm it will be named Lorenzo.
There's plenty of time to watch as it moves across the Atlantic.
