Truck driver in crash that killed Union Co. deputy to face judge

UNION COUNTY, N.C. — The truck driver accused of being responsible for a crash that killed a Union County deputy is expected to make his first court appearance Tuesday.

Eddie Weeks is accused of misdemeanor death by vehicle.

Investigators said his tractor-trailer rolled over on Sergeant Jeff Greene's car on Highway 74 in Monroe in November.

Troopers said Weeks couldn't stop at a red light and jackknifed. They also said his truck should have been out of service and wasn't allowed on state roadways.
