MINT HILL, N.C. — A truck carrying sand was involved in an accident along Interstate 485 outer near Mint Hill on Friday.
It happened around 2:30 p.m. on the ramp to Fairview Road.
Chopper 9 Skyzoom flew over the area, where sand was piled up on the side of the interstate.
One lane was open to traffic on I-485, but traffic was still backed up for miles.
It’s unclear what led to the accident.
Officials expect the road to clear around 4:30 p.m.
