TSA finds knife in shampoo bottle at Charlotte airport

CHARLOTTE, NC — The TSA posted “Stabby shampoo can result in split ends” to its Instagram account with a picture of a knife security workers found in a bottle of shampoo.

Jokes aside, TSA officials said concealed weapons in carry-on luggage can mean fines or even arrest if you’re caught with one.

"The individual that took a knife, put it in a shampoo bottle, was trying to get it through security, for whatever reason, we don't know," said TSA Federal Security Director for Charlotte Kevin Frederick.

The knife was just one of dozens of weapons confiscated from passengers every year at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

When it comes to firearms, TSA averages finding about one a week in carry-on luggage in Charlotte. They've found 23 so far this year.
