Two-alarm fire breaks out at home in north Charlotte

A two-alarm fire broke out at a home in north Charlotte this morning, officials said.

It happened around 7:30 a.m. in the 2400 block of Kendrick Avenue, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

Firefighters said that once they arrived on the scene, they saw heavy smoke and determined the fire was in the basement.

A second alarm was transmitted shortly after the initial call, according to firefighters.

Thirty-six firefighters controlled the fire in 30 minutes and no injuries were reported, officials said.

The firefighters on scene said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
