Two men charged in connection with eight break-ins across Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police have arrested and charged two people responsible for eight break-ins in Charlotte this month.

Officials said 20-year-old Phidel Tukes and 16-year-old Donta Lamont Dolton Jr. broke into homes and a church in north and northeast Charlotte.

Officers found one of the stolen items at a GameStop and was able to identify them through matching serial numbers.

After CMPD officers arrested the pair, they found a car stolen from Shelby, North Carolina during an armed robbery.

LIST OF BREAK-INS:

  • August 1 -- Police responded to break-in at home on Eargle Road around 6:55 a.m.
  • August 3 -- Police responded to a breaking and entering at a home on Blue Aster Lane around 12:33 a.m.
  • August 13 -- Police investigated break-in at home on Reinbeck Drive around 11:54 p.m. while people were home
  • August 14 -- University City Division Officers responded to Frostmoor Place for a car break-in around 6:40 a.m.; police said credit cards were stolen and used shortly after
  • August 14 -- A second car was broken into on Frostmoor Place, but the victim reported it to CMPD around 10:05 a.m.
  • August 20 -- Police responded to reports of a "residential alarm" call on Frostmoor Place around 7:45 a.m.; officers found a broken back window and determined it was an attempted break-in
  • August 20 -- Police investigated a break-in at Dewmorn Place, where two cars were stolen from the house around 9:30 a.m.; both cars were found empty on the side of the road
  • August 20 -- Police responded to a break-in at AME Zion Church on Rockwell Church Road around 10:49 a.m.

Tukes was charged with first degree burglary, second degree burglary, larceny after breaking and entering, felony larceny, misdemeanor larceny, financial credit card theft, breaking and entering of motor vehicle, felony conspiracy and resisting arrest.

Dolton was charged with first degree burglary, second degree burglary, breaking and entering, larceny after breaking and entering, larceny of motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm, possession of stolen property, breaking and entering a place of worship and resisting arrest.
