Two women buy pizza from local restaurant, hand out to construction workers

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Sometimes it’s the little gestures that go a long way.

Shannon Minick, a special education teacher at Cuthbertson High School, and her friend Alexis Hancock bought $100 worth of pizza and Gatorade from Salud in NoDa on Saturday.

They handed it out to construction workers who had been putting in long hours, as well as elderly neighbors in their community, and supporting a local business at the same time.

“It’s important, especially right now, to support each other and show kindness, so it was a way to say thank you. It was also a way to give back to my local community,” said Minick.

Salud matched the donation, which means Minick and Hancock were able to hand out 20 pizzas.
