UNCC professor discusses how police and the public view protesters

We’ve had protests in Charlotte for 11 days. Most have stayed peaceful, but a few turned violent.

Anchor Brittney Johnson spoke to a professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte who said all the demonstrations are having an impact, but she sees big differences in the ways police and the public view protesters.

When asked how recent protests compare with what was seen during the Civil Rights Movement, professor Danielle Boaz said she wanted to highlight the disparities made when people are talking about the ways in which predominately white groups are protesting versus the ways in which more racially diverse groups are demonstrating.

>>In the video at the top of the page, Boaz discusses the differences in how police and the public view protesters who are speaking out against police brutality.
