CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Vandals ransacked a Myers Park home, causing $100,000 worth of damage last month, and nobody has been arrested.
On the day after it was reported, Charlotte-Mecklenburg police found a group of juveniles in the same house. An officer was checking the property on Runnymeade Lane and saw about 15 juveniles in the home, according to police documents.
The kids did not have permission to be on the property or inside the home and once they saw the officer, they ran.
Officers and Myers Park High School security and staff helped find some of those students.
Massive damage -- kicked in walls, shattered mirrors, broken furniture -- could be seen in photos from inside the house shared with Channel 9 from the homeowner.
"It definitely makes me sad for them, makes me sad for our neighborhood, for our school, for the teenagers," said neighbor Megan Stuart.
Channel 9 checked with police and no one has been arrested for the damage to the home. The students were arrested for the second incident where they were found in the home and fled.
