Prosecutors clear W. Memphis officers in January shooting of suspects from Lancaster

WEST MEMPHIS, ARKANSAS — Megan Rivera and De’Angelo Brown, both of Lancaster, were shot and killed in January after police said they put innocent lives in danger.

Recently released dashcam video shows a chase in West Memphis, Arkansas, that ended after police boxed the Lancaster couple’s car in.

Officers with guns drawn can be seen yelling out commands and trying to break the windows to gain access to the occupants.

Rivera swerved back and forth, hit a patrol car and ran over the bottom half of an officer’s body, the video shows.

It then shows the officers opening fire on the two.

Investigators said Rivera and Brown stole the car in Columbia, South Carolina.

Police said they found cocaine and a gun inside the car.

On Friday, a grand jury in West Memphis decided no charges will be filed against the officers.

The officers are still on paid administrative leave, and the department is still conducting
its own investigation.

The officer was treated and released from a hospital.
