Waterfront LKN estate tops list of Mecklenburg County’s priciest home sales

CORNELIUS, N.C. — A waterfront estate on Lake Norman tipped the real estate scales in June with a hefty price tag of $6.25 million, making it the most expensive residential sale in Mecklenburg County last month.

That mansion, at nearly 10,000 square feet, sits in high-end neighborhood The Peninsula, which is about 20 miles north of Charlotte in the town of Cornelius. The 1.3-acre, peninsula-shaped lot boasts more than 550 feet of water frontage, according to its real estate listing.

The three-story, gated home was custom built in 2007 and has six bedrooms, six full bathrooms and three half-bathrooms.

Luxury features inside the home include an elevator, a wine cellar, heated floors, ample windows providing lake views, a game room and a home gym. The outdoor living space features a pool and spa area, a bocce ball court, a fire pit, a kitchen, a sandy beach and a private dock.

The property on Flying Jib Road was listed for sale on April 20 at $6.49 million, with the sale closing less than two months later. Lance Carlyle with Carlyle Properties was the listing broker.

Each month, American City Business Leads, a division of CBJ parent company American City Business Journals, pulls Mecklenburg County’s 10 top home deeds based on sale price. Additional details come from county real estate records, the listing brokerage and Realtor.com.
