• Waxhaw man charged with sexually abusing boys in NY

    WAXHAW, N.C. - Police in New York arrested a Union County man accused of sexually abusing young boys for years.

    At least two accusers have come forward against William Bates-Congdon, citing past abuse.
     
    Bates-Congdon now lives in Waxhaw.
     
    Police said one boy was abused during a three-year period starting in 2001 when he was just 8 years old.
     
    The other said he was 12 years old when it happened in 2004.
     
    Both cases are out of New York and police believe there could be more.
     
    He is scheduled return to court on May 22.
