Which NC airport offers some of the cheapest domestic flights in US?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A recent study conducted by Finance Buzz ranked 45 U.S. airports based on the average price of airfare for a domestic flight.

FinanceBuzz created the ranking to give travelers more options; in some cities with multiple airports, the average airfare was significantly cheaper at one. The statistics were collected from data published by the U.S. Department of Transportation.

Quick teaser: You won’t find Charlotte Douglas International Airport on the list of U.S. airports offering the cheapest fares. The most recent release of federal transportation statistics showed that airfare at CLT remains among the highest in the nation, with a domestic flight at the Charlotte airport costing an average $433.90 in the first quarter of this year.

The good news is that wherever you’re going, flying is relatively cheap. Adjusted for inflation, average domestic airfares in 2018 were cheaper than any year since the Bureau of Transportation began collecting these statistics in 1995, FinanceBuzz said.
