Charlotte police release video of suspect car in road rage shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg police have released a photo and video of a car involved in an apparent road rage shooting June 8.

The victim 40-year-old victim remains in the hospital. He was headed home after a hard day of work Friday when the shooting happened on Shamrock Drive in east Charlotte around 7:30 p.m.

His wife, who did not want to be identified, said she spoke to her husband before the shooting.

"He said, ‘Hey, I'm about five to 10 minutes from home,’” the wife said. “I said, ‘I'm gonna start warming up the food so we can eat."

The next time she would speak to her husband was hours after he had emergency surgery to remove several feet of his intestines.

She is thankful her husband is still alive.

"Well, we are lucky,” the wife said. “I think this is another opportunity of life that God has given him."

Hernandez-Sesate was driving a truck owned by his employer. He had just dropped off a co-worker and was headed home when someone pulled alongside him and fired at least seven rounds into the truck, according to the police report.

Police said the shooter and the victim don’t know each other and they believe the shooting was the result of road rage.

"This one, you can see how easily it ripped through the steel like that,” said Ali Bahmanyar, the victim’s boss, talking about the bullet holes in the truck.

Bahmanyar then said the victim was "the hardest working person I've ever met."

"He is one of the nicest, kindest individuals that you can think of, always looking after everybody," Bahmanyar added.

Police are still looking for the shooters, which makes the victim’s family nervous.

"This time, it happened to my husband. Next time, it can happen to another person,” the wife said.

"It's hard to see anybody like that in the whole hospital that have that many visitors and that's the level of the love that the man has created around his living style,” Bahmanyar said.
