Winston-Salem officer caught pointing gun at driver during altercation between racers

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem police officer was caught on camera pointing his gun at a stock car driver after an altercation between two racers, according to our news partners at WGHP.

The incident happened during the Stadium Stock Race at the Bowman Gray Stadium after drivers Andy Spears and Blake Walker had issues during the race.

The issues started when Spears' car caused Walker's car to spin out.

Walker drove his car around to be behind Spears as they were driving around the track. Walker then spun Spears' car around in an apparent retaliation.

Spears and Walker stopped their cars on the track and Walker exited his car. When Walker exited his car, Spears spun his car in a circle and struck Walker's car, causing it to bump him.

Safety crews and an off-duty Winston-Salem police officer were responding to the issue when Spears' bumped Walker's car.

During the altercation, the Winston-Salem officer was seen drawing his gun and pointing it at Spears.

Reports said he quickly put his gun back in its holster after four seconds.
