Woman convicted of DWI says she was drugged, raped

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Charlotte woman charged with driving while intoxicated will try to convince a jury that she may have been a victim of someone spiking her drink.

The woman is appealing her DWI conviction. She said someone had put something in her drink and that may explain why she was wearing only a bra when University of North Carolina at Charlotte police found her in her car three years ago.

Prosecutors are relying on her blood alcohol tests, which showed her alcohol level was almost three times the legal limit.

A UNCC police officer told the judge the woman was unsteady on her feet and incoherent when he found her.

The case is expected to last several days.
