Woman who sent home videos to company to convert them to DVD finally got both

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Shariva White has a bag full of videotapes and cherished memories.

She saw a Groupon to convert 10 videotapes to DVD for about $60. So, she bought it and mailed the tapes to the company, Memories on Media.

She told Action 9's Jason Stoogenke she was supposed to have the tapes and DVDs in two or three months.

But, when Stoogenke met her she told him she had already been waiting 10 months. She said the owner gave her the runaround.

"At this point, I just want the tapes back," White said. "I don’t even care about the money. I don’t care about the $60. My memories are worth way more than $60."

Stoogenke emailed and called the owner of the business, but couldn't get in touch with him, so he went to Winston-Salem to find him.

The owner promised to send White's tapes back immediately, and he did.

She got them all back and the DVDs too.

Stoogenke went over her house Wednesday.

She showed him two of her most precious videos: her husband proposing and the last video of her grandmother.

"I'm so happy that I called you and Action 9 actually came out and helped," she said. "I'm so excited."

As for other customers, the business owner said: "We have not lost anything. Everything is here."

He added, "We just got a little bit overwhelmed by our deal with Groupon and everything will be returned probably within the next two to three weeks."
