Popular bar owner shot, police investigation launched

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating after a well-known Charlotte bar owner was shot outside his home early Thursday morning.

Greg Brafford is the long-time owner of Woodshed Lounge in Charlotte.

Investigators responded to Brafford's home in southwest Charlotte just before 3 a.m. after his partner called 911 and said Brafford had been shot.

The shooter pulled out a gun and attempted to rob Brafford at his home, according to the police report. 

Investigators said the suspect fired at least four shots. It's believed Brafford was hit by at least two of those bullets.

Brafford was rushed to Carolinas Medical Center.

Friends told Channel 9 Brafford had surgery Thursday and will have a long road to recovery.

Investigators haven't named a person of interest in the case and no arrests have been made.
