CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A world-renowned religious leader returned to the state he once called home Sunday morning.
Bishop Michael Curry spoke at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in north Charlotte.
He’s the presiding bishop of the entire Episcopal Church, but he served earlier as bishop for the North Carolina diocese.
He told Channel 9 anchor Erica Bryant he wanted to come back to Charlotte to share a message of life-changing love.
“The way of love is the way of unselfishness, sacrificial sometimes, that really does seek the good of others as well as the good of the self. And when that happens, you have a different world. You have a different politic, different personal relations, interpersonal relations, and a different global community,” Curry said.
Curry is also known for speaking at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding.
He said he is also working on finishing a new book this summer.
