• 2 teens struck, killed in North Carolina

    CONCORD, N.C. (AP) - Two teens have died after they were struck while crossing a road in North Carolina.

    Concord police told local media outlets that the teens were struck Saturday night by a vehicle that left the scene. The car as found empty, nearby.

    Police said the victims were 14-year-old Jessie Marroquin Avelino and 15-year-old Ricardo Solano, both of Concord.

    Police have arrested two people in the deaths. Twenty-one-year-old Francisco Daniel Marin-Gonzalez is charged with two counts of felony hit and run and two counts of felony death by motor vehicle.

    He and his passenger, 19-year-old Mark Anthony Gutierrez-Santos, have been charged with failing to stop and render assistance.

    It was not known if the men have an attorney.
