FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — (AP) — A woman and her 14-year-old son were killed and her 15-year-old daughter wounded when they were shot in a neighborhood north of Fayetteville.
Cumberland County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Debbie Tanna said the shootings occurred Tuesday in the Eureka Springs community.
Tanna said a 21-year-old man believed to be the shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His relation to the victims wasn't known.
The woman's daughter underwent surgery for a gunshot wound at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center.
Last week, a gunman killed his father-in-law and the man's grandson after firing multiple shots into a Fayetteville home. Three deputies were wounded before the suspect died in a shootout. That same day, a Fort Bragg soldier was found shot to death in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
