RALEIGH, N.C. — Officials in North Carolina say an inmate attacked correctional officers in separate incidents at two prisons.
The N.C. Department of Public Safety says in a news release inmate Charles McDougald attacked four officers at Foothills Correctional Institution in Morganton on Tuesday. McDougald struck the officers before being subdued by other correctional officers.
According to the news release, the injured officers required outside medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. No weapons were used in the attack.
Also on Tuesday, authorities say Tremayne Lynch assaulted one correctional officer during a search at Albemarle Correctional Institution in New London.
Other correctional officers responded and subdued Lynch. No weapons were used in the assault, but the department said correctional officer was treated outside the prison for non-life-threatening injuries and was released.
