CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The Hornets have promoted Fred Whitfield to president and vice chairman.

The team also announced Wednesday the promotions of Pete Guelli to executive vice president and chief operating officer and James Jordan to executive vice president and chief administrative officer. Jordan is the older brother of Hornets owner Michael Jordan.

Hornets managing partner Curtis Polk says "I'm extremely proud of the strides that we have made as a business under the guidance of our leadership team."

The leadership team spearheaded the rebranding from the Charlotte Bobcats back to the Hornets, extended the team's local television contract with Fox Sports Southeast and oversaw record levels of improvement in all facets of the company's business.
