• Man convicted of killing at North Carolina motel

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) - A Virginia man has been convicted of killing a man at a North Carolina motel nearly three years ago.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported that 28-year-old Craig Hairston of Danville, Virginia, was convicted Monday in Greensboro and sentenced to life in prison.

Jurors spent only one hour before returning the guilty verdict in the death of 32-year-old Kevin Millner at a motel in 2014. Hairston was also convicted of conspiracy to commit robbery and was sentenced to nearly three years in prison for that charge.

Millner was shot in his car after he was awakened by two men at the motel who intended to rob him.

Hairston did not make a statement before he was sentenced.

Two co-defendants pleaded guilty to lesser charges and are awaiting sentencing.
