RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities say a North Carolina man choked a female officer responding to a domestic violence call, and scratched another officer.
News outlets cite an arrest warrant that says 25-year-old Travis Javon Hales choked the female officers as both officers tried to restrain him Friday, leaving a handprint around her neck. The other officer was scratched on the face and ear.
Police say Hales had broken into his grandmother's apartment and assaulted her.
He's charged with several counts, including assault by strangulation, breaking and entering and communicating threats. According to the warrant, he told the female officer he's "going to kill her because she deserves it" when he gets out.
His bail is set at $100,000. Reports didn't include comment from him or a representative.
