NC regulators to inspect Duke Energy coal ash facilities

NORTH CAROLINA — State regulators will conduct detailed inspections of all Duke Energy’s North Carolina coal ash facilities next week.

Duke Energy will also need to provide engineering and emergency action plans and maps for the facilities. Also, the company will have to provide videos of the insides of all pipes at the plants, which includes the one at Mountain Island Lake.

The inspections are in response to last month’s coal ash spill in Eden.
