YORK COUNTY, S.C. - Detectives in York County investigated the case of an ATM.

They recovered in the woods Thursday several miles from where it had been stolen eight days ago.

Deputies flying with the State Law Enforcement Division spotted the ATM from a helicopter as they flew over the woods just south of Highway 160 in Fort Mill.

They also spotted the blue pickup truck next to it that was seen on surveillance pictures that captured the theft at the TD Bank branch in Fort Mill.

The thieves used a forklift to remove the machine.

Deputies released a picture of the ATM in the woods. It had been taken apart.

An individual familiar with ATMs told Eyewitness News it appeared that the cash drawers had been removed.

A spokeswoman for the York County Sheriff’s Office said they do not have any suspects in the case yet.
