Multiple news outlets say the Federal Transportation Safety Board preliminary report on the June 27 plane crash into a home in Hope Mills says the caution light on the Beechcraft 55 Baron came on several times just days before the fatal crash.
The report says another pilot flew with 66-year-old Bill Merritt of Fayetteville on June 24. The NTSB says the other pilot reported that the caution light for the attitude and heading reference system remained lit for the first 12 to 15 minutes on one leg of the round trip.
