Power restored to more than 5,000 in Watauga Co. after storm

WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. — Blue Ridge Electric said it restored power to more than 5,000 members in western Watauga County.

High winds and icy weather damaged a transmission line early Tuesday morning.

King Street and Appalachian State University experienced power outages.

Watauga County schools were closed Tuesday due to power outages.
