NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say the shooting deaths of two people in a South Carolina gas station parking lot happened as a 14-year-old tried to rob a man at gunpoint.

North Charleston Police Maj. Ken Hagge says the teenager and victim were both shot as they fought over the gun Sept. 29.

Hagge says 14-year-old Eisa Shourpaje tried to rob 25-year-old Dashawn Bowens after seeing Bowens take out a large amount of cash at the register at the Valero gas station.

Hagge said at a Thursday news conference Shourpaje shot Bowens in the neck, then Bowens managed to get the gun and shoot the teen in the head.

Shourpaje died the next day and Bowens died a few days later.

Hagge says police reviewed 30 videos and spoke to several witnesses.
