• Coastal South Carolina city might have 2 shrimp festivals

BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - A mayor on South Carolina's coast and a chamber of commerce are in a dispute over the ownership of a shrimp festival.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head Island reported Beaufort Mayor Billy Keyserling (KIGH-ser-ling) and the Beaufort Regional Chamber of Commerce are in a dispute over the ownership for the Taste of Beaufort held in May and the Beaufort Shrimp Festival in October.

Keyserling says the city plans to take over the October event. Keyserling says city leaders don't think the chamber of commerce has met the city's desires.

The two-day festival includes local restaurants and chefs, competitions for the top shrimp dish, a road race and activities for children.

Chamber of Commerce leaders said Tuesday they think they own the event and might produce their own festival.
