Investigators say they still haven't found the car or the driver who hit Emma Taylor on Tuesday of last week outside a Spartanburg County elementary school. Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Taylor died Wednesday evening at a hospital.
Spartanburg District 7 officials say some youngsters did see Taylor get struck, but no children were hurt. Taylor had been working as a crossing guard for a decade and had received an award as South Carolina Outstanding Crossing Guard of the Year several years ago.
The Highway Patrol says authorities know the vehicle that hit Taylor outside Jesse Boyd Elementary School was dark-colored. They have few other details.
