SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - Authorities say a man who charged police officers with a knife at a South Carolina motel has been shot.

Spartanburg County deputies said someone called 911 around 11:30 a.m. Saturday and said there was a man with a weapon at the Caroline Inn and Suites in Spartanburg.

Deputies said in a statement the man charged at officers with the knife and was shot.

Authorities have not released the wounded man's name or his condition.

The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the shooting.

It was the second shooting in three days involving Spartanburg County deputies. On Wednesday, authorities said a deputy shot and killed a man who was stealing a vehicle after the man pulled a gun during a confrontation.
