The State Supreme Court issued an order Monday suspending the license of Reggie Lloyd and 19 other lawyers.
The court said Lloyd had either failed to prove he completed continuing legal education requirements or pay filing fees or penalties.
President George W. Bush nominated Lloyd, then a circuit judge, as U.S. Attorney in 2005. He served in the post until Gov. Mark Sanford tapped him in 2008 to lead the State Law Enforcement Division, where he served until 2011.
Lloyd didn't immediately return a phone message Wednesday but told the Post and Courier he planned to leave the practice of law and missed a deadline to make his license inactive.
