• Police: Kidnapped Georgia mom, children found in South Carolina

    POWDER SPRINGS, Ga. - Authorities in Georgia said a kidnapped mother and her two children have been found in South Carolina.

    News outlets report 23-year-old Yajaira Lira Ramirez and her two toddlers were found Monday afternoon in Hardeeville, South Carolina after being kidnapped around 2 a.m. Monday in Powder Springs, Georgia.

    Powder Springs police Maj. Dwayne Prosser said 22-year-old Josue Armando Portillo kidnapped Ramirez and the children at knifepoint. Prosser said Ramirez was able to get away from Portillo and drive to a public place.

    Hardeeville Police Chief Sam Woodward said Ramirez had some injuries and was taken to the hospital. Woodward wouldn't say how Ramirez escaped from Portillo.

    Prosser said authorities are still searching for Portillo.
