CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - A South Carolina woman in prison after an embezzlement plea now faces tax fraud charges.

The South Carolina Department of Revenue said in a news release that Alicia Altman of Myrtle Beach has been charged with seven counts of tax evasion.

The agency said Altman filed fraudulent income tax returns from 2010 through 2015, giving her more tax refunds than she was entitled to receive.

The revenue department said Altman also failed to file a return for 2016. Investigators say she under reported her income by more than $1.5 million.

The agency says Altman evaded paying about $100,000 in state income taxes.

She was convicted of embezzlement in January and sentenced to two and a half years in prison.

There was no record of an attorney for the tax charges.
