Storms in Charlotte Sunday, heat and humidity coming

CHARLOTTE — Heavy rain and thunder has been pounding the Charlotte area Sunday afternoon.

By 6 p.m. most of the rain will be north and east of Charlotte, with the heaviest activity over the Salisbury and Albemarle areas. The activity will slowly wind down before more stormy weather moves in next week.

Sunday night will bring drier conditions. There will be the potential for fog on Monday morning, but there should be no problems for commuters.

There will be thunderstorms again Monday afternoon. There will not be many of them, but those that develop will bring heavy rain.

The heat and humidity will slowly build up after that. This week will be very muggy with a threat for storms. The best chance of rain will occur later this week.
