Rain chances increase before drier weekend

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Temperatures for the area Wednesday stayed in the upper 80s with a heat index at or above 90 degrees.

There will be a higher chance for rain Thursday and Friday as a cold front approaches. The chance of rain for the metro area is expected to be 60 percent Thursday and 50 percent Friday.

Weekend conditions are forecasted to be cooler as dry air pushes into the area. The chance for showers will diminish as a result of this air mass.

High temperatures for the weekend will remain in the low-to-mid 80s.
