Child struck by branch that fell through bedroom

Mooresville — A 6-year-old boy suffered minor injuries after fire officials said strong winds and rain caused a tree to fall on the family's home in Mooresville.

The family told Channel 9 Devonte Graves was playing video games on his bed when a large branch crashed through the ceiling of his bedroom.  He was struck in the shoulder by the branch.

"He has a large scratch on his left shoulder," said De'Empress Graves, who is the boy's aunt. "I was home when it happened and it sounded like a bomb went off. We're just thankful he isn't seriously hurt."

The tree also fell on a family member's car.

It's unclear how much damage the house sustained.
