Director Taika Waititi announced that Thor is going to be a woman played by Natalie Portman in the fourth installment in the series about the god of thunder Saturday at Comic-Con.
Portman played the character Jane Foster in the first two Thor movies and had a nonspeaking role in "Avengers: Endgame."
Waititi's directing credits include "Thor: Ragnarok," "What We Do in the Shadows" and "Hunt for the Wilderpeople."
Chris Hemsworth, Tessa Thompson and Waititi also revealed the title and logo. “Thor: Love and Thunder” is set for release Nov. 2, 2021.
Waititi says he was inspired by the comic source material “The Mighty Thor,” which introduces female Thor.
It's unclear what will happen to Hemsworth's role, but he joked to the crowd in Hall H, "He’s heading to the 7-Eleven for a little Netflix subscription and at this point he might be on the couch, who knows."
