Baby born mid-flight awarded 1 million airline miles

A baby born mid-flight was awarded the gift of a lifetime: one million free miles aboard the airline.

Baby girl Haven was born four hours into a Cebu Pacific flight from Dubai to the Philippines.

The baby's mother went into labor five weeks earlier than expected, the airline said in a Facebook post.

Two nurses aboard the plane helped deliver the baby. The mother held the baby in her arms for the remainder of the flight.

According to another passenger aboard the flight, flight attendants cleaned the baby with mineral water in a makeshift basin, and a fellow passenger gave the infant some baby clothes and other necessities.

The flight made an emergency landed in India to make sure the child was healthy.

Cebu Pacific Air's president and CEO Lance Gokongwei released the following statement in reaction to the new arrival:

We are happy that both mother and daughter are doing well, and we would like to commend our flight and cabin crew for handling the situation with the utmost professionalism and efficiency. We also express out sincerest gratitude to the two volunteer nurses who helped ensure the baby's safe delivery.

The airline said that it will be awarding baby Haven one million airline points that have no expiration and can be shared with her family.
